Community Health Worker (CHW)Training: The CHW is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the CHW to serve as a liaison/link/intermediary between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence or service delivery. Community Health Worker/Certified Recovery Specialist (CHW/CRS) Training: The CHW/CRS is a Community Health Worker who also happens to be a person in recovery from a mental health or addiction related disorder. The CRS provides peer support services, serves as a consumer advocate, provides consumer information and peer support for consumers in emergency, outpatient, or inpatient settings. Train the Trainer: This training is intended for individuals interested in becoming certified to teach the state-approved Community Health Worker and Community Health Worker/Certified Recovery Specialist curriculum. Off-site Trainings: If there is a demand for a CHW or CHW/CRS training outside of Indianapolis, certified trainers are able to travel and facilitate trainings throughout the state as needed.
